Modak puffs- with Cabbage curry and puff pastry sheets

I thought why can't we make modak shape curry puff and I also I wanted to try Cabbage filling in curry puff from many days. I already tried this recipe with phyllo dough sheets ( click Here for recipe), They came out very perfect. Now I'm trying with puff pastry sheets.

Ingredients:
Potato---boiled and sliced 1cup( I used Baby potatos, unpeeled)
Cabbage finely chopped- 3cups

onions---1/2 and 1/2 cup
green chilies/ peppers---finely chopped---2ts
turmeric--pinch

green peas (batani)--1/4cup
salt to taste
chat masala/ pudina
chutney powder (available in Indian Stores.)

Method:

  • Take pastry sheet out of the box and let it come down to room temperature.

  • Mean while prepare curry,

  • Take a pan heat 2ts of oil and add 1/2 cup of onions+ green chilies+ turmeric+green peas and fry until onions are half cooked

  • Now add Cabbage and Cook until the mixture is completely cooked under medium flame.

  • Add boiled and diced potato to this and mix well by adding salt to taste and chat masala or pudina/mint chutney powder to taste..

  • Now the curry is ready, add  remaining 1/2 cup onions to the curry and mix well.

  • Take the pastry dough unfold it and cut it in to 9squares,

  • Take a baking tray covered with aluminium foil and grease it with oil.

  • Mean while pre heat the oven at 350F.

  • Sprinkle the chat masala on each dough-let,Strech it with hands / roll it with roti maker / pizza roller.

  • Now add the curry on top of a cup and fold it just as you fold modak and bake for 10-15min at 350F.

  • Enjoy with green chutney or tomato sauce.

  • This is a perfect evening tea time snack, I'm sure you will love it :)
