Palli/ moongphalli/ ground nut/ pea nut chutney is the most prefers chutney by many of the housewives if the coconut is not in availability. I make this chutney very often, here in USA getting fresh coconut is very difficult.
Ingredients
Ground nuts 1/2 cup
Putnalu/ roasted gram dal- 1/4 cup
Green chili- 3
Salt to taste
Garlic cloves 2
Tamarind soaked in water small marble size
For tempering
Oil 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tbsp
Chana dal 1/2 tbsp
Urad dal 1/2 tbsp
Red chili 1
Curry leaf 2 optional
Method
Take all the ingredients ground nut, putnalu, tamarind, garlic cloves, salt and green chili and grind them to fine paste with some water. The consistency should be very thin just like dosa batter. Now prepare tempering heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and add mustard, cumin, Chana dal and urad dal one by one and wait till they are light brown then add curry leafs and red chili and turn off the stove. Mix this tempering with chutney. Now the chutney is ready to serve. Hope you like my recipe. Come back again.
